About me,
Deborah (age 53)
Several years ago, aged 49, after decades as a runner, triathlete & self-confessed endurance junkie, I found myself….well….BORED.
With a bit of trepidation, I tried a relatively new thing (at the time) called Crossfit, and an obsession was born. I had never done a lot of lifting beyond a few attempts at gym girl stuff in my 20s, so this barbell-gymnastics stuff was intimidating, but at the same time, I felt REBORN, and excited for the challenge of learning new skills.
The real magic, however, came when I realised I felt physically stronger & healthier than I had ever felt in my life, and my body was changing too. I wasn’t sure I would get stronger in my 50s, but here I am, deadlifting 250lbs, doing cleans & snatches, hitting PRs regularly.
Oh, and I learned how to do handstand push ups, and butterfly pull ups age 53!
Throughout this journey, I have researched the positive effects of nutrition and strength training on age-related physical & cognitive decline, and gained a certification in Sports Nutrition, as well as a CrossFit level 1 trainer certification.
After almost 30 years as a marketing strategist, and then a performance & executive coach, I have found my new purpose as a Healthy Habits Coach for Midlife.
My goal is to teach women & men how to successfully navigate nutrition (macros), fitness & aging strong in their 40s, 50s & beyond, and to help them build those healthy habits for a longer, happier & more functional life.
